Overview
This animation is set to a 20-second excerpt from Mike Tompkins' a cappella cover of "Fireflies" by Owl City, chosen for the way its lyrics naturally evoke a sense of space and wonder.

Concept & Story Board
The animation opens with planets in motion, slowly converging toward Earth before it begins to rotate. The camera then zooms down through the atmosphere and into a quiet bedroom, where a young girl lies sleeping. As the animation pushes closer, her dream reveals flowers blooming against a vast galaxy backdrop.
The final scene introduces shooting stars drifting across the frame. The overall colour scheme is dark and atmospheric, with rich blues, purples, and indigo forming the foundation, while brilliant accent colours bring the planets, stars, and text to life.
Style Frames
The elements intended for motion such as the planets and flowers were designed in Illustrator. The galaxy backdrop for the frames were made in Photoshop. Using After Effects, I created a sequence according to the plan in my story board. The result is a fluid kinetic animation that moves in sync with the rhythm and lyrics of the song.
