Overview
This project is a poster series that transforms ordinary daily tasks into moments worth noticing. The first instalment focuses on making tea, broken into three acts:
Make, Pour, and Serve.
The series encourages the viewers to slow down and find intention in the ordinary. Making tea isn't just a task, but a sequence of deliberate actions. The idea was to portray the process of making tea in a poster series, where each poster would focus on one action; making, pouring, and serving tea.
The Process
The design approach taken was minimalistic, with more intention on the illustration and type. I wanted to incorporate a pattern in each illustration to balance out the empty space, and making the illustrations the focal point of each poster.
A clear, sans serif heading was used as the heading for each poster, alongside a tagline of the same font family. The posters follow a consistent layout, which includes the headings at the top and and illustrations in the bottom middle.
The initial drafts and colours of the illustration were quite dark, but were used as foundations for the final poster design.
Final Design
The final design concept brings together a carefully considered colour palette and repeating diamond pattern across three posters, each representing a distinct step in the process of making tea. Together, the designs form a cohesive series that frames an everyday task as a visually engaging and intentional experience.
